The project described below was performed with our client Rugged Rider. Although every project is different, the needs and goals of this project were typical in many respects. Rugged Rider sells accessories for dual purpose motorcycles. They wanted to design and build prototypes of certain parts in order to mass produce them for sale. We performed laser scans and produced high quality 3 dimensional CAD models of a skid plate, fender, and undercarriage for them as shown below...

In step two below, the raw laser scan data is compiled and refined by our engineers to create a complete mesh model. In step three below, the scan model is reverse engineered to create an idealized model that is perfect for downstream applications. 3D Scan Services engineers can make virtually any design modifications requested by our clients. Finally, the idealized CAD model is exported as an IGES file so Rugged Rider engineers can use the 3D models to manufacture their custom parts and accessories. For example, with the CAD model of the fender, Rugged Rider was able to design and manufacture a custom Sport Rack that fits perfectly on the fender.
